MATT GORDY (DRUMS) is an accomplished percussionist, composer, and arranger who is able to play in a variety of musical genres. His professional experience ranges from the classical orchestras of South America and the United States, to international and national tours of Broadway hit musicals such as THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA and SHOWBOAT. He has played with jazz and popular artists such as Aretha Franklin, Patti La Belle, the Moody Blues, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Joni Mitchell, Marvin Hamlisch, Michael Crawford, Mose Allison, Mark Murphy, Dorothy Donegan, Chita Rivera, the Platters, and others. He also leads his own jazz quintet, THE MATT GORDY GROUP, which has recorded three CD’s for Hook Records and Brownstone Recordings. Matt is a wicked good chef, a Red Sox fanatic, and a truly sentimental, sensitive guy. The band often refers to him as the “world’s oldest 12 year old”.
